Iyer community

Origin of Hinduism can be related to Satavahana Kingdom who were Kings responsible for architecting Hinduism. Later a group of people split from Satavahana Kingdom and formed Pallava Kingdom (Pallava in Sanskrit 'Branch') who were the origin of Shaivam. The Shaivaite Pallava kings changed themselves to missionaries by leading a life with a rationale of Shaivam giving birth to Shaivaite brahmins. The success of Shaivam was challenged by the growing emotional influence by other religions, as a result, Adi Shankara (A Shaivaite brahmin) established 'Self' & emotionless life all over the country marking the beginning of Iyer community.

British rule and aftermath

After the arrival of British in India, the Iyers divided into two groups, one that directly opposed British rule and the other working along British to establish the science perspective in India thereby indirectly contributing to the country's confidence for Independent India. Notable people in the community are CV Raman (Nobel Prize in Physics), Subramanyam Chandrashekhar (Nobel Prize in Physics) and Venkatraman Ramakrishnan (Nobel Prize in Chemistry), Subramania Bharathi (Pro-Independence leader), U Ve Swaminatha Iyer (Archivist), Meenakshi Ammal (Connoisseur of food), M S Subbulakshmi (Carnatic artiste), Padma Subramanyam (Bharatanatyam artiste) among others. Iyers were responsible for establishing a strong growth foundation in India and are the mainstream community of the country. The community has a tradition of pioneering establishments in India as in media (Indhiya, Swadesamitran, The Hindu, Tughlaq, Dinamalar etc.), Universities (IISc etc.) and industries thereby contributing to change in people's perspective towards growth and independence.

All about Shaivam

Shaivam is a rationale of protecting the good by destroying the evil. Is there is anything called 'Protecting the good' when you can destroy the evil? Well no! There is nothing like 'Protecting the good' when you can destroy the evil and that is the only way you can achieve 'Protection'. The evil can be in any form be it people, individuals, intentions, perspectives, mindset, situations etc. Not only we destroy the existing evil, also we anticipate and remove them as well. Why the present world is in disarray? Because there are lot of people who believe in protection by allowing the evil to grow, encouraging them for the sake of protection of good. Can we be better off if the evil is never encouraged? Yes, humans still have lot of challenges in positive direction towards growth and that should be our only focus in life.
Some people profess 'Protect the good' by creating evil and destroying them, thereby leading people to be focused on evil things which is a waste of time and effort. Future is only on the positive direction and we will have more challenges towards the positive direction more than the challenge of destroying the evil.
Does that 'Protection of good' is nothing but encouraging growth of people? No! Humans by nature are growth focused and the only way we can maintain the nature is by destroying the evil.
Shaivam is all about protecting the nature as it is from the evil hence people might say nature was also god's creation so it is god's responsibility to help it progress through his interference. Shiva's perspective on nature while creating it was nature can sustain and progress itself and it is his responsibility to help his creations to destroy evil themselves. Well, then what is the reason for evil when everything is created by Shiva? Evil is an obvious consequence of giving freedom to individual elements of nature. Evil is nothing but strong rationale of evil which influences against nature which can be because of diversity like differing feeling, locations, preferences etc., having a strong inclination towards a particular preference like legacy, location etc. So when will the evil be destroyed? When you give up your preferences and accept the reality. Change happens with changing times and accepting is one of the awareness.
There is nothing called Dharma (Dharma - Motive of good), there is no good or bad, there is only nature and that goes against nature. Therefore it is our responsibility to avoid those that goes against nature.

God will not protect the humans, humans will protect themselves and god will help them

What is awareness?

Awareness is nothing but accepting the reality. Apply our understanding for the greater good, if you are with the mindset of understanding the nature you will be in a better position to serve the society. Science is an example of one such awareness, spirituality is another example of awareness also there are only a million kinds of awareness and it is everyone's responsibility to become more and more aware of things around us, understand and apply them for a greater good.
Have you ever noticed why Shiva is worshiped as lingam form contrasting to other gods, why such a strange structure? Because that particular structure elevates feeling better than any other structure also it is impossible to understand the reason for such a structure elevating our feeling although it is widely adopted and worshiped that contributes to elevating the feeling of the people.
As we become more and more aware of things with an awareness mindset, it is reasonable for one to be complacent that anything can be understood through a well defined approach, anything can be applied consciously for the betterment of the world, anything will have well-connected meaning that humans can understand, so it is also human nature to gain more and more knowledge/awareness, create power and dominate or abuse others as long as they stay more powerful than others resulting in abuse of power using knowledge.

But unfortunately lingam still remains a mystery!
